21 Reasons Why This Election Makes Americans Sick to Their Stomachs

America is unique in the level of political freedom of speech we have. This creates an “anything goes” environment where we are free to say whatever we want about our current candidates for president. While I think it is a good thing, it can go both ways. This is what makes us sick to our stomachs…

  1. Candidates seem to spend more time bashing each other than promoting their causes.
  2. Most news media sources are very subjective and lean one way or the other, giving the American public a skewed view of the whole truth.
  3. The candidates seem to talk in circles and hardly ever answer questions directly.
  4. Many people see the political process as a game that needs to be played in order to get elected.
  5. Sometimes people can’t tell the difference between the two candidates.
  6. Talking points and sound bites sway people more than the details and facts do.
  7. Most of the time people don’t even look at the details and the facts anyway.
  8. Many people think that whoever gets elected won’t effect much change.
  9. Many people think that whoever does get elected will be able to change the world.
  10. Many Americans vote for “the lesser of two evils.”
  11. Americans are given the choice of an apple or an orange when they would actually prefer a steak.
  12. Fear rules the day.
  13. Money rules the whole entire time…
  14. According to approval ratings, people only really care about their money anyway.
  15. The smartest people never seem to get elected.
  16. The President seems powerless to stop the powers that be.
  17. Most politicians seem sold out to the powers that be.
  18. Politicians are allowed to make fools of themselves on shows like SNL, Letterman, and The View.
  19. The voting system itself contributes to many “lost” votes every election.
  20. What are the issues again???
  21. Did I forget to mention that, “He who has the gold, makes the rules?”

What other reasons make you wish this election would just be over already?

  • I think too often people are getting tired of the “african american” or “woman” debate. As far as which would be better, and it doesn’t matter on race or gender for the election. It’s who has the best ideas, which like you said we hardly know their ideas because they run around in circles too much.

  • Hi Jenn,

You are right. It seems the American people can’t handle big ideas so everything gets changed to soundbites which stretch and mangle the truth. The other thing that bothers me is how much Obama is spending on advertising. Where does all the money come from? Who is buying him and how is he buying America? It kind of hurts my head to think about it. Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to comment! I appreciate it!

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Well, we all have to just sit back and let this “democracy” have it’s way with us… and I can’t even vote… I feel so violated.

  • I feel bad that you can’t vote Ali. You know, I try to always look on the bright side. American is a great country. We could be in some war torn country where warlords want to kill us. That makes my day feel a little better at least.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy
