When all else fails… Don’t YOU fail…
I had this thought in the shower this morning, and it was the first time in a long time that i felt compelled to write something here at Insight Writer.
This past weekend was wonderful. Even as a three day weekend goes it was one of the better ones. I got to spend most of it with a young lady I love dearly. We had the greatest of times!
Then I got back to work and got sick with something nasty. On top of being sick just about everything that could go wrong at work did. The week ended with our office manager sending out a mass email saying how frustrated she was with our work and how we needed to get it together so she doesn’t have to fix all of our mistakes.
A co-worked responded in a mass email stating that the email was unprofessional and that the office manager needed to understand what it’s like to be in the field without the resources to do their job. They ended the email by saying that they were unhappy to say that they no longer wanted to work for the company and then promptly quit. I would consider the person that quit one of our better long term employees.
Besides being completely drained from being sick and coming home and collapsing in my bed from exhaustion after work everyday I had to find the energy to deal with all these work issues. As I am one of the main managers for the company.
Somehow I made it through and all I can say is that I made it by gritting my teeth and bearing it.
Sometimes my friends that is the only path we can take. Straight through the middle of the gauntlet.
The older I get the more I realize that the only person who truly fails is the person who does not get up and try again. Sure, there are some impossible things in this life, but the only way to really suck the marrow from life is to try, try again.
So in the end I will say again… when all else fails… don’t you….

Hey Jeremy. I love this post – simple, but straight to the point. It’s good that you got to finish your work for the office manager (even though she sounded sort of unprofessional) and didn’t give up.
I hope more people can understand that in life, the only failure we have as a person isn’t when we don’t succeed, but when we stop trying.

Tempting as it may be sometimes, your advice about sticking the course is a much better option in my humble opinion!

Jeremy, I’m so sorry you had to deal with all that while being so sick and exhausted on top of it. That’s awful!

My best friend in life always said this to me, quoting Churchill, “Never, Never, Never Quit!” I have made this my mantra. It has never let me down.
Even when I have had to make changes and adapt to new circumstances that have been both terrifying and heart-wrenching, it gave me the courage to get up and fight again.
That said, it is critical to believe in the cause for which you are fighting. Often, we fight to make a bad situation work, and we are afraid that if we walk away from it, we are quitting. If the situation is destructive and toxic, walking away isn’t quitting; it is walking off to fight the good fight elsewhere. It takes courage to break free and follow our own drummer.

Well, there is truth in these words. In a bigger view we need to say that if everything fails and we don’t we can say ourselves that this was something great we did today. And we are those people that didn’t failed. That is something that could make my day much better.
